If you see a video of a man working out wearing nothing but a pair of shorts, no one would bat an eye. But if a woman wears shorts and a sports bra and works out, everyone would lose their minds. The hypocrisy is bizarre.
The definition of “appropriate clothing for women” keeps changing from time to time and place to place. She is expected to cover herself fully, sometimes even within the comfort of her own home. Even a celebrity like Malaika Arora, who is famous for her fit lifestyle, isn’t spared.

A person took to Twitter to share a video of Malaika Arora practicing yoga in her studio wearing a pair of shorts and a sports bra. The user called her attire “inappropriate” and called for a boycott, of what God knows. But by the looks of it, the user called for the infamous #BoycottBollywood.

Not just this particular user. In fact, there are many others online who shamed her for her workout outfits. Some also think that she’s trying to “tempt” boys.

Thankfully, several other people called the user out for their ridiculous argument. Many also shared a video of the yoga guru Baba Ramdev practising yoga wearing nothing but a loincloth. If people are okay looking at him, they should be okay looking at Malaika too.

I couldn’t help but notice how the woman mentioned “if the culture is to survive” as if the weight of the entire Indian culture and traditions alone are placed on the shoulders of women. What I would also like to ask is that, is our culture so weak that it is threatened by a woman wearing a sports bra?
