Ahmedabad Street Food Vendor Makes Piping Hot ‘Oreo Pakodas’ With Fried Chilies & Chutney

We’re convinced that Indians can do everything. From coming up with mind-boggling jugaads, to concocting out-of-the-world dishes, there’s nothing that us desis can’t do in the name of innovation. And when it comes to food, we’re up to trying any weird combo even if it means baking ‘Green Curry Cake’ or relishing mustard on watermelon.

Not so long ago, a woman shocked the internet when she cooked ‘Oreo Maggi’ with chocolate ice cream. Yet again, another Oreo-licious dish has surfaced online, but this time it’s a savory snack.

From the streets of Gujarat’s Ahmedabad, a food blogger found a man dishing out piping hot bhajiyas with Oreo biscuit as its main ingredient. He then captured the entire process of making the ‘Oreo Pakodas’ and shared it online for the world to witness the bizarre sight.

In the viral clip, the street food vendor is seen making a thick batter of chickpea flour (besan) and salt just like in traditional pakodas. He then empties an entire pack of the cream-filled chocolate cookies into the batter, coats them well, and deep-fries them in boiling oil.

Moments later, the sweet-savory pakodas are ready to serve with fried green chilies and special date chutney. The dish is priced at Rs 20 for 100 grams. The vendor informs that the weird dish is liked by youngsters and is being served for the past 15-20 years.

Towards the end of the video, the blogger is seen eating them. However, like most people online, he also admits that it doesn’t suit his tastebuds.
