Which is probably why a user on Reddit took to r/AskReddit to ask if people would choose to marry a dark-skinned woman because fair skin is more often than not associated with ‘beauty’ and ‘status’.
“Grew up getting bullied by everyone at school. Family almost made me kill my self. Men treated me like temporary GF. Got cheated on. Now seeing the hate towards dark-skinned women makes me really worry. I know my self-worth is not defined by men but I want a normal life too,” she wrote.
