Nagpur Residents Hit The Streets For Community Workout After Govt Shuts Down Gyms

To fight COVID-19, there are a couple of precautions we can take at a personal level. The most basic being washing our hands with soap and water for 20 seconds. In addition, social distancing and self-quarantine are also effective in checking the spread of the novel coronavirus. Which is why people are working from home and socializing virtually.

Various ministries on their part have placed restrictions on international travel, ordered schools, colleges, cinemas, nightclubs, monuments, museums and other public places to be closed till March 31.

According to Business Today, after the Maharashtra government shut down gyms in the state, residents of Nagpur came out to the streets for a community workout session.

Nagpur Today quoted a local named Hardeep Bhatia saying,

“We are building our immunity system by exercising.”

At a time when the number of confirmed cases is highest in Maharashtra, such communal activities must be avoided instead of being encouraged. A failure to do so puts everyone at risk and this sentiment was reiterated by desi Twitter when this news surfaced.

A better idea is to emulate quarantined Spaniards who are exercising together from their balconies and windows. This ensures that fitness is not neglected and isolation protocols are followed to the T.
