Moral policing is no news in India. Be it, dragging couples (consenting and of legal age) out of hotel rooms or forcing patriotism down people’s throat (remember ADHM-MNS affair?), we, the people of democratic India have seen it all. But nothing beats social media outrage and its frenzy!
While many celebs have fallen victim to cyber-bullying and its sorts, the recent episode of stereotyping has brought Mohammed Shami, Indian international cricketer (yes, the same who won India a match even when his daughter was in ICU) a lot of hate.
Mohammed Shami, recently, posted a picture with his wife, Hasin Jahan on social media sites but religious fanatics took offence because she, a Muslim, was wearing a sleeveless gown.Â
Orthodox and narrow-minded trolls found that reason enough to school Shami, asking him to make sure that his wife wears a hijab.
However, amidst all the venom-spewing, former Indian cricketer, Mohammed Kaif (also a Muslim) came out in Shami’s defence and tweeted,
The comments are really really Shameful.
Support Mohammed Shami fully.
There are much bigger issues in this country. Hope sense prevails. pic.twitter.com/dRJO5WfOgU— Mohammad Kaif (@MohammadKaif) December 25, 2016
Now, after an entire day of religious bullying, Shami has finally broken his silence and has given a classic comeback to all who had nothing but hate to offer.
Very good morning 😘

This is exactly the example we should follow. Because, in other words, ‘When they go low, we go high!’
