Samosas In Bihar Are Now A ‘Luxury’ With A Tax Of 13.5% Imposed On Them. WTF?

What would you say if you come to know that you had to pay an extra 13.5% tax on your beloved samosa? You’d flip, right?

 

Bihar has pulled a similar move and imposed a luxury tax of 13.5% on the snack, and leaving all samosa-lovers high and dry.

Some cosmetics, perfumes and sweets were also on the list of the luxury tax, but people were mostly left stunned when they found samosa show up on the list.

 

Opposition party leaders, warned that this tax could and would hurt the common man’s pocket the most.

Devesh Kumar, a BJP spokesperson said, “This is a foolish, anti-people idea that will hurt the masses. Besides exposing the state’s precarious financial situation, a luxury tax on popular snacks like samosas and kachoris also exposes a lack of ideas.”

 

Obviously, people were quick to take up the ’cause’ and tweet about it:
