Seven Indian women boxers who qualified for the finals of the Youth World Boxing Championship, which took place in Poland on Thursday, had massive wins in their respective categories. According to NDTV, all of them won gold medals!

The women boxers’ performance at this championship is being considered as India’s best ever performance at the marquee event, reports TOI.

The seven boxers are Gitika (48kg), Babyrojisana Chanu (51kg), Poonam (57kg), Vinka (60kg), Arundhati Choudhary (69kg), Thokchom Sanamachu Chanu (75kg) and Alfiya Pathan (+81kg).

“This has been an amazing effort from our youth boxers especially when the players had to be confined at home for the most part of the last year and only make do with online training sessions,” said Boxing Federation of Indian President Ajay Singh.

Geetika, Poonam, Arundhati, Alfiya walked away with a 5-0 triumph against their respective opponents. Babyrojisana too defeated her Russian opponent by a similar margin. Chanu won against her opponent from Kazakhstan by 3-2, whereas Vinka “out-classed” her opponent “forcing” the referee to stop the contest midway, reports Outlook.
