College Students Mourn Death Of Their Pet Fish, Sing Songs At Its Funeral, Watch Video

When I was a kid, I’d often get jealous of my friends who owned a pet. From adorable doggos to friendly cats, my besties always had a pet growing up. And, if you’re a pet lover like me, you know being around animals is the best feeling ever. So, it goes without saying that animal parents love their pets unconditionally.

Recently, a group of students mourned the death of a fish that lived in an aquarium on their campus. The students of the University of Texas in Austin organized a funeral service for the silver carp named Loompa, reports Indian Express.

Have a look at the detailed video of Loompa’s funeral service:

The funeral service for Loompa the fish was attended by students from an entire dormitory. It featured music, song and a eulogy as the dead fish was placed in a makeshift coffin using a pen case. The first-year students organized the service to honor the life of Loompa, “the beloved brother of Oompa” after it’s sudden death.

Dressed in a bow-tie, the fish was carried in a casket by the students. The funeral service ended with Loompa’s cremation.

Students even shared the video of the ceremony where a student sang the Lady Gaga song Shallow for the fish:

However, some people criticized the student’s funeral arrangements:

The funeral certainly helped the students to express their grief. RIP Loompa.
