Amitabh Bachchan Helps 225 Migrants Go Home To UP By Arranging 10 Buses & Meal Kits

Sonu Sood was one of the first celebrities to assist migrant workers travelling home on foot. He sorted out permissions, arranged buses, and provided them with meal kits for the journey. Subsequently, chef Vikas Khanna did his bit by distributing food, Sonakshi Sinha auctioned her paintings to raise money for relief work and Rajinikanth donated to the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI).

According to News18, Amitabh Bachchan has now organized 10 buses to take 225 stranded migrants home to Uttar Pradesh (5 to Prayagraj, 2 each to Gorakhpur and Bhadoi, 1 to Lucknow).

Zee News quoted Sabir Sayed, Mahim Dargah’s IT-Director saying,

“It was the brainchild of Bachchan sahab, who has been deeply concerned by the sufferings of the migrants since the lockdown. He made a proposal and the Haji Ali Dargah and Mahim Dargah responded by offering to make all the arrangements.”

“Besides, to ensure a hassle-free journey, each passenger has been given a full kit of masks, sanitizers, gloves, water bottles, and food packets for the entire journey. Each bus has a full-fledged emergency medical kit with essential medicines, fruit juices, glucose, etc.”
