In April this year, something incredible happened in Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelensky, an actor and comedian who rose to fame playing the part of President in the television series ‘Servant of the People’ actually beat incumbent President Petro Poroshenko and won the 2019 elections in the country.
Glimpses of his previous profession were seen at the 16th annual Yalta European Strategy (YES) Meeting held between 12-14 September. During the dinner event, the Ukrainian President showed guests a parody video of a WhatsApp group named “World Leaders Group”.
The hilarious group’s members were countries like France, Russia, USA and Germany among others. It cheekily took a dig at complex world affairs like North Korea’s arsenal of nuclear weapons, Russia’s annexation of Crimea & China’s leadership ambitions. In addition, it very subtly trolled Ukraine’s credit issue and poked fun at Finland and Belarus. The video is said to be the work of his comedy group “95th Block”.
After it was shared online, people praised its wittiness and declared it the funniest video on Twitter.
Perks of having a comedian as your president. 😆😆👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Comedy is the key. Laughter (& math, but that’s boring) is the universal language that can help us make the farthest progress toward world peace IMHO.

The video certainly does a great job of discussing political matters with a humorous twist. Which part of it was your favourite? The way Finland was “typing” for most of the conversation, the USA’s deleted text or North Korea’s “stickers”?
