For those who do not believe in miracles, Ukrainian comedian Volodymyr Zelensky has turned out to be a living example. Zelensky, who is widely known for starring in a satirical television series ‘Servant of the People‘, has just become the president of Ukraine in a landslide victory over the current position holder, Petro Poroshenko.
But why has this stunned the whole world? Let us do the honors.
Zelensky’s popularity reached the stars when his character of a poor teacher accidentally went on to become the president of Ukraine in the TV series. Inspired by his character on screen, Zelensky actually went on to announce his participation in the 2019 presidential elections on social media, in December last year.
And you got to give it up for his smartness as he made a similar promise of eliminating corruption in his campaigns, just like his character vowed to in the series, ‘Servant of the People‘.
And now, according to the official results, the 41-year-old has dethroned incumbent President, Petro Poroshenko, by collecting a staggering 73.17 percent of the votes! Which means, the comic actor with zero experience in politics or military will now head the country for the next 5 years.
Sounds phenomenal, right?
Finding it hard to digest, social media is overflowing with tweets regarding the extraordinary happening. While some are having a good laugh over the freakish coincidence, the others are comparing Zelensky to Donald Trump for being the second ‘fool’ to run a country.
How appropriate that a comedian joins the world comedy show called POLITICS. A planet full of ill informed, self centred, egocentric leaders. We finally have someone that is an expert in their field that takes on the head job! #Ukraine #UkraineElections #politicsexplained https://t.co/geddnuDuiv

Ukraine just elected a racist clown with no governing experience to be their President because he was on TV.
I wonder where they got that idea? 🤔

Ukraine just elected president a popular comedic TV personality with no political experience and amorphous ideological views, who ran on an anti-corruption, anti-establishment platform. Sounds familiar

Ukraine has elected a comedian as a President. Second country to achieve this rare feat.

People around the world seem shocked that Ukraine just elected a TV comedian with no government experience as president. But hey, the American President is a clown with zero experience, so it’s not like they’re alone in this.

Is it just me or is there anyone else who is feeling a bit confident about taking part in the coming elections? Just kidding, spare us the horror!
