As 2016 quickly approaches, another memorable year full of incredible news and remarkable people comes to an end.
But what happened in 2015 other than me growing a year old?
Stories such as Paris attacks and Modi’s visit to UAE, UK, USA, France, Russia, China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and what not captivated the world. 😉
People eagerly awaited the verdicts of the Nirbhaya rapist and Yakub Memon.
New words ‘bruh’ and ‘facepalm’ were added to the dictionary this year.
The world welcomed the daughter of Mark Zuckerberg and my mama.
While heroes emerged to inspire with their actions, politicians fell from grace for their words. Also, celebrities found new love and I fell out of it.
But here are 21 unforgettable things from the serious to the heartwarming that happened for the first time in 2015.

1. Saudi Arabia held its first ever election open to female voters and candidates to cast ballots in the conservative nation.
2. 2015 Republic Day witnessed the first ever march by an all-women contingent drawn from the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
3. India got its first 100% visually impaired officer in IFS.
4. Cuba got Wi-fi for the first time when an artist set up the island’s first Wi-fi in his studio.
5. Shia and Sunni sects offered joint Eid prayers together for the first time on Eid al-Adha in Lucknow.
6. An Indian mother posted the country’s first gay matrimonial ad seeking a groom for his son.
7. Ireland became the first country to approve sex marriage by referendum in a victory with 62% in favor of it.
8. Anirban Lahiri became the first Indian golfer to qualify for the prestigious Presidents Cup.
9. SpaceX launched a rocket that returned to Earth and successfully landed upright.
10. Satnam Singh became the first Indian basketball player to be drafted by an NBA team.

15. Inderjeet Singh from Punjab became the first Indian to win gold in World University Games.
16. A 28-year-old diploma holder in engineering made history by becoming the first female metro operator Chennai has ever seen.
17. Scientists in Switzerland captured the first ever image of light as both a particle and a wave.
18. Nepal elected its first female President, Bidhya Devi Bhandari.
19. The world’s first holographic political demonstration took place in Madrid when thousands protested against a controversial law banning protests outside government buildings.
20. Dipa Karmakar became the first Indian to make the finals of World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
21. Manabi Bandopadhyay became India’s first transgender college principal.
It has been an eventful year. Some things happened that had never happened before.
