Shah Rukh Khan’s Take On The #MeToo Movement Will Make You Respect The Actor Even More!

Apart from the 11 Filmfare awards that define him as an actor and his evergreen charm which make women go weak on their knees, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is also known to be a man of the highest order and class. Every time the 53-year-old takes up the microphone and decides to speak a few words, we can’t help but be blown away by his wacky sense of humour or noble ethics.

And recently, when Shah Rukh spoke to The Indian Express about the revolutionary #MeToo movement, the case was no different.

In his interview, SRK mentioned that he treats women the way they should be – and that’s with respect. He also highlighted the word ‘equality’ as a significant one that the world needs to understand and the fact that love cannot exist without it.

“Three things: Respect, respect, and respect. I really believe that. Some of my women friends, whom I have known for years, find me too formal at times. But there is no romance and love without respect. Respect means equality, and I don’t mean the social media’s #equality. To me, equality is letting you know how weak I am, equality is asking you, can you take care of me? This is what I’ve done with my wife, and my women friends because I genuinely love them.”

King for a reason? Definitely.

Shah Rukh went on to reveal that he also lectures his children not to disrespect people and develop a sense of basic respect. He added that he still knocks on the door before entering his wife’s or daughter’s room and has never opened Gauri’s purse in their 30 years of marriage.

How can you not love this man?

“I teach my 21-year-old son that disrespecting a person is not okay, and I don’t mean beating or the kind of things that #MeToo has brought out. I’m talking about basic respect. I’ve been married for 30 years I’ve never looked into my wife’s purse. I still knock on the bedroom door if she’s changing; I knock on my daughter’s bedroom door. They know it’s me, but this is their space.”

Massive respect for you, Sir. 🙂
