Lok Sabha Candidate Chooses Doctor’s Duty Over Politics, Leaves Campaigning To Deliver Baby

Gottipati Lakshmi is a doctor. She is also a Lok Sabha candidate contesting for the 2024 elections. She is the candidate for TDP from Darsi, a municipality in Andhra Pradesh. Recently, she was in the middle of campaigning for the election when she got a message from one of her patients – a pregnant woman who was about to deliver a baby but became a victim of certain medical complications.

The hospital management had told the woman that at that particular time, no expert gynaecologist was available at the hospital and that she needed to be shifted to a bigger and better facility. However, Dr Gottipati Lakhshmi left campaigning midway and rushed to help the patient. She performed an emergency C-section on the woman at the right time, reported TOI.

After examination, it was revealed that the patient’s amniotic fluid had drained completely. However, because of Dr Lakhsmi and her team of doctors, both the mother and the child (a healthy baby boy) were safe.
