“Alternate Career Option,” Says Twitter After Watching Shashi Tharoor’s Stand-Up Comedy Debut

Everyone is familiar with politician and Kerala MP Shashi Tharoor’s extensive vocabulary. Speaking at a college event recently, he revealed that the reason for this is that he grew up in a time without television, computers, Nintendo, PlayStation, and mobile phones. So all he did was read, read and read.

But we’re still discovering another side of his personality and that is his sense of humour. We saw a glimpse of it when he teamed up with comedian Hasan Minhaj and tried to guess the meaning of some urban slang terms.

Now, he’s shared a snippet of his stand-up comedy act. Take a look.

This video is part of a series called “One Mic Stand” where Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Richa Chaddha, Bhuvan Bam, Vishal Dadlani and Tapsee Pannu are pitted against 5 professional comedians in their quest to regale a live audience. According to NDTV, his post received over 60,000 views in 2 hours. It currently has 5,700 retweets and 30,000 likes.

Twitterverse was all for his comedy debut and even suggested a career switch with regular open mic gigs.

We were still in awe of the 63-year-old author and parliamentarian’s verbal prowess when he floored us with his self-deprecating jokes. Wonder what other talents he has up his sleeve, any guesses?
