Fans Laud Ranbir Kapoor After He Says He Didn’t Deserve Dadasaheb Phalke Award For ‘Brahmastra’

The 69th Dadasaheb Phalke Award ceremony was held recently and some of our most favourite actors took home the trophy. From ‘RRR’ winning the ‘Film of the Year’, Alia Bhatt winning ‘Best Actress’ for ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ to Varun Dhawan winning the ‘Critics Best Actor’ award for ‘Bhediya’, this year’s wins have been delightful.

But what was unexpected was Ranbir Kapoor winning the ‘Best Actor’ award for ‘Brahmastra’. In case you have watched the film, you would know that it is, at large, not about the acting but is about the story and the VFX. To be honest, Ranbir’s acting in the film is not that good so as to give him any award, let alone the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

And Ranbir Kapoor agrees with that. In an event recently, he was asked how he felt about winning the coveted award and the actor, with humility, answered that he doesn’t fully deserve it for ‘Brahmastra’.

“I am very grateful ki mujhe yeh sammaan dia. I don’t think I fully deserve it for Brahmastra. Vo bohot badi kuch acting performance nahi thi. Jab bhi kuch award aata hai toh of course you feel great,” he said.

Here’s a video capturing his statement on winning the award:

Many people online lauded his honesty for making such a statement and accepting that his performance in ‘Brahmastra’ didn’t make him deserving of an award. Here’s how some of them reacted:

Who do you think should have won the award for the ‘Best Actor’ category?
