Old Interview Of Neetu Kapoor Resurfaces Where She Justifies Rishi Kapoor’s One Night Stands

It breaks our hearts to write ‘late’ before Rishi Kapoor‘s name. It’s been three years since the veteran actor breathed his last at a Mumbai hospital after battling cancer.

After spending decades in the public eye, ever since he made his film debut in 1970 with ‘Mera Naam Joker’, his fans and well-wishers might think that they know the late actor in and out. However, there were still some personal details about him that are only known to his wife, actress Neetu Kapoor.

Earlier, she revealed that before they started dating, she would be his wing-woman and always help him in impressing girls. Now, an old interview with Neetu has surfaced online wherein she justifies her late husband’s one-night stands.

In the interview given to a publication, Neetu said that she’s caught Rishi flirting hundreds of times.

“I was always the first one to hear about his affairs in outdoor locations. But I know they are just one-night stands.”

She added that earlier she used to fight with him over these issues but over time, she matured enough to handle the situation.

“Two years ago I used to fight with him about it. But now, maybe because I’ve matured, I’ve learned to be indifferent. I’ve adopted the attitude of ‘Go ahead, let’s see how long you will do it’.”

The interview cutting that’s going viral online further reads Neetu saying, “He always wonders how I come to know of his activities. I have a lot of friends and they tell me about it.”

“I just say to him, ‘I know about it. So let’s forget about it.’ Mind you, he always owns up to it. What bothers him is that I never fight. I just avoid or ignore him for some time.”

Rishi having affairs and owning up to them somehow increased their confidence in each other.

“We’ve become very confident about each other. I know his family comes first, so why should I bother about his flings? They’re just passing fancies. He’s too dependent on me. He can never leave me.”

Supporting his actions, Neetu further defended him saying that men should be given a certain amount of freedom.

“They’re flirtatious by nature. One cannot bind them down. But, if he were ever to have a very serious, long-standing affair or get married again I’d throw him out of the house and say, ‘Go live with her’.”

This interview seems so twisted, misogynistic, and problematic on multiple levels. Let’s see what people have to say about it:

Some even sympathized with her:

After falling for each other, Rishi and Neetu tied the knot on January 22, 1980. They became parents to Riddhima Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor and stayed married for 40 years.

Call me old school or ‘immature’, but the way that Neetu (a woman who was well-established) handled her husband cheating on her is so uncalled for.
