Music Lovers Rejoice! University Of Mumbai Introduces A Certificate Course On ‘Asli Hip-Hop’

Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy‘ has swept everyone off their feet with its ‘asli hip-hop‘ and gritty underdog storyline. Apart from the powerhouse performances of the lead actors, one of the things the film absolutely nailed was its 18-song album. It came together with the joint efforts of 54 talented people including rappers, DJs and beatboxers.

Dr Sanjay Ranade, the head of the Department of Communication and Journalism has announced that a three-month certificate course titled, “Introduction to Hip-Hop Studies” will be rolled out this year. And the course coordinator is none other than rapper and Assistant Professor at Mumbai University, Yatindra Ingle.

Good news! If you’ve passed 12th grade, you are eligible to apply. And the fee for the course is Rs. 5,000.

According to Hindustan Times, “Artistes from the field will help students understand the concept during their weekend classes. Students will also have to submit a thesis on select topics related to the art form and appear for a written exam to pass the course.”
