After getting banned by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for a theatrical release in India for hilariously absurd reasons like ‘being lady-oriented‘, ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha‘ is earning accolades all over the globe.
After being premiered at coveted events like the ‘Glasgow Film Festival’ and the ‘Miami International Film Festival’, the movie was selected for the opening gala night at the ‘Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles’ (IFFLA). However, the cast and crew of the movie were in for a huge surprise there.
Before the screening of the movie, Christina Marouda, director of IFFLA announced that ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ has been officially chosen to be eligible for the renowned ‘Golden Globe Awards’.
Overwhelmed by the happy news, director Alankrita Shrivastava commented,
“This was really unexpected to me. This is a big leap for me and my team.”
With the hope that the ban on the film will be lifted soon, producer Prakash Jha also expressed his happiness for the film getting selected to be featured at the Golden Globes.
Now the question is, will the so-called ‘guardians of Indian sanskars’Â let the movie release after it gets featured at the Golden Globes?
