Punjab Boy Who’s Never Been To The Gym, Eats Ghar Ka Khana Breaks Guinness World Record For Pushups

You would think that in order to be your fittest self, you need to hit the gym every day, pump iron and drink bottles worth of protein shake. But that’s not the case.

20-year-old Kuwar Amritbir Singh who hails from a village in Punjab named Umarwala recently broke the Guinness World Record for performing the most number of pushups on fingertips with a clap, reported NDTV. He managed to perform 45 pushups in 60 seconds.

This record was accomplished on February 8 this year, but Guinness World Record recognized it on July 28. To become successful in his attempt, Singh practised for 21 days straight, 4 hours a day.

According to Times Now, he used to wake up at 4 AM every day, practice for 2 hours, go about his day and then again practice for 2 hours in the evening. What’s astonishing is that Singh has never been to the gym. Instead, he works out at home and has his own equipment.

He doesn’t even follow a special diet. Instead, he says that he eats whatever his mother cooks for him.

“I don’t use protein supplements. Sirf ghar ka khana khaata hoon (I only eat what is cooked at home). Curd, milk, butter and ghee are constant in my diet,” he said.

Having his name etched in the Guinness Book of World Records isn’t his only feat. He also had his name on the India Book of Records for the most number of knuckle pushups in a minute and the most number of superman pushups in 30 seconds in July and September 2020, respectively.

Kuwar Amritbir Singh is a fitness influencer on Instagram with a massive following of 171K. He regularly posts workout videos and fitness tips for others to help them in their journeys. He also posts DIY videos on how to make your own gym equipment using items like bricks, cement, iron rods, water bottles, etc. His vision is to help create a healthy and fit nation.

In 2021, he was also presented with the Karmaveer Chakra Award.

Kudos to him!
