The record-breaking rise in petrol prices after the Karnataka election results have left the country fuming at the government. With the common man finding it difficult to bear the expenses, people have come out to protest on all social media platforms.
Among the laymen, we have also seen celebrities voicing their opinion over the increasing rates and slam the authorities for being unable to control the situation. However, the latest to join the gang was film producer Ekta Kapoor.
During a film promotion, when asked about the fuel hike, Ekta had a rather ‘interesting’ take on the whole situation:
Even if petrol prices are at its highest, men will take women for drives & in today's time, women will take men for drives. This isn't the movie that you're going to stop watching as at this time you need to spend less on driving & more in theatre: Ekta Kapoor on fuel price hike pic.twitter.com/kyhaowGHVN

Quite expectedly, the Tweeple could not find any sense in her answer and took her class on the micro-blogging site.
Not practical enough

One in her defense
Point to be noted. Ekta Kapoor was promoting a film and the journalist asks her an absolutely unrelated question on petrol prices!!! कौन हैं ये लोग??? कहाँ से आते हैं ये लोग??? https://t.co/2b36rGjcjn

Well, this was the second time in quick succession that Ekta Kapoor faced the heat of the Twitterverse. The last time she got trolled was a few days back when she blasted Swedish YouTuber PewDiePie.
In all fairness, what she probably (stressing on probably) meant was that her film is so good that you don’t have to stop watching it & leave the theater midway and drive (thereby needing more fuel) back home. So time spent in theater is more than time spent in driving. Wait what? I lost my train of thoughts there. Behen, pass the joint please.
