Archana Puran Singh is much more than ‘Mrs Braganza’ and a popular comedy show judge. She is an established actor whose talent the entertainment industry is actively wasting. Her acting in shows like Shrimaan Shrimati and Jaane Bhi Do Paro has proved how good an actor she is.

Speaking to Indian Express about how she has been typecast into comedy-centric roles, Archana Puran Singh expressed that she feels “deprived” and “cheated”.
“That chhaap (image) is so solid. Also, many people feel that what they should offer me after Ms. Braganza. It’s been almost 25 years since Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was released. And the character is still following me. People also feel that I am best suited only for comedy. As an actor, I feel deprived, cheated, and I have been left yearning for good roles,” she said.
She feels that getting the same kind of roles, again and again, is the “death of an actor”. She also feels inspired by how Neena Gupta had taken to social media to ask for work, and says that she might do the same.
“They say if you keep getting the same roles, you are very lucky, and people want to keep watching you. However, I feel it’s the death of an actor. I remember Neena Gupta had once posted on social media seeking work; I guess I will take this opportunity to ask for work from directors and producers.”

She further expressed that people have seen only one aspect of her craft and she wants them to explore her other sides as an actor as well.
“I am dying to perform. People have seen just one aspect of my craft. I also have a serious side. I can do so much more than just comedy. Main ro bhi sakti hu, rula bhi sakti ho (I can cry and make people cry too). That side of me is yet to be explored, but I am sure it will happen one day.”
