‘Are We Serious?’ Alia Bhatt Addresses Ranbir Kapoor Being Called ‘Toxic’

In recent times, Ranbir Kapoor has been receiving a lot of hate online for how he allegedly treats his female associations. Videos that are years old are resurfacing and every little thing that is being said in interviews is being nit-picked and criticized – the latest of which is Ranbir asking his wife and actor Alia Bhatt to wipe off her lipstick because he likes the natural colour of her lips.

In the latest episode of Koffee With Karan, Alia Bhatt addressed the issue of Ranbir Kapoor being called “toxic” on social media. After all, there were numerous online posts and articles that slammed him for being allegedly controlling and often insensitive.

“I have a very candid way of speaking so even when I’m talking about anything in my life, I like to imitate the person that I’m talking about, I like to give anecdotes, I like to make it personal. I feel like a lot of things just get picked out of context which happened recently,” Alia said.

When the reports were coming in, Alia’s team informed her that this kind of public perception was getting out of hand and she genuinely felt bad because according to her, Ranbir is the complete opposite of what people were making him out to be.

“My team told me, ‘This is going a little out of hand.’ And I was like, ‘It’s okay, let it be.’ because genuinely, people say things all the time. But then I realised that there are serious articles talking about how he’s a toxic man and this and that. And I’m like, ‘Are we serious?’ I think the only reason I felt bad, or feel bad is that if people misunderstand, is because he’s genuinely the opposite of all of that.”

However, Ranbir is the one who calms her down when such reports surface online because he believes that their lives, owing to their profession, belong to the public.

“But you can’t say anything about it. People can say what they want. In fact, Ranbir says that ‘Alia, the audience owns you, they can say what the hell they want about you. As long as your movies are doing well, please do not complain sitting in your apartment in Bandra.”

Do you think that the public sometimes unnecessarily criticizes Ranbir Kapoor?
