Doggo Waits At Wuhan Hospital Months After His Owner Died Of Covid-19

When we talk about loyalty, we often give examples of how a dog is the most loyal creature on Earth. And being a dog mommy myself, I can vouch for that. Moreover, there have been several instances that prove that these adorable creatures never leave their owner’s side.

You might remember the 2009 film ‘Hachi: A Dog’s Tale’ based on the real-life story of a Japanese Akita dog named Hachiko. Well, something similar happened at Wuhan recently. According to Metro Online, a loyal dog waited at a hospital lobby for three months after his owner died of COVID-19.

The seven-year-old mongrel, fondly called Xiao Bao, came to a Wuhan hospital along with his owner, in February this year when cases of coronavirus were on the rise in China. But sadly, his master succumbed to the virus after spending just five days in the hospital.

However, Xiao Bao refused to leave the hospital and patiently waited in its lobby for over three months. He was also relocated by the hospital staff, but Xiao Bao managed to find his way back to the hospital, reported Daily Mail.

During his regular visits to the hospital, he was fed by the staff. When lockdown restrictions were lifted in the country last month, the hospital supermarket owner Wu Cuifen started caring for him. “I first noticed the little dog when I returned to work in the middle of April.”

“They told me Xiao Bao’s owner, a pensioner, was admitted with the coronavirus. Then he passed away, but Xiao Bao didn’t know and just stayed in the hospital looking for him. It never left the hospital.”

“It was incredibly touching and so loyal. I grew familiar with the dog and later brought him into the shop. Every morning when I opened up, Xiao Bao would be there waiting for me. He saw me off at the end of each day,” Wu said.

After repeated attempts and complaints received by the hospital staff, Xiao Bao was recently relocated to a shelter run by the Wuhan Small Animal Protection Association. He is now waiting for his new family at the shelter.

Well, I feel that dogs are the only creatures on the planet who love you more than they love themselves. Here’s another reason why you should bring a doggo into your life.
