Akshay Kumar began his career with action-comedy movies. However, recently he is much more popular for his nationalist and progressive roles in films like ‘Rustom’, ‘Padman’, ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Airlift’. Additionally, he has reflected that sentiment in his real life as well by urging Indian girls to learn self-defence and engaging in various types of social work.
Considering how Akshay is fairly active on social media, he has always commented on what’s going on in India, and rightfully so. However, his recent decision to not do so raised some eyebrows.
In a tweet from 2012, Akshay Kumar had questioned the previous Government’s workings. However, when he was asked to comment now, he deleted that tweet and refrained from commenting any further.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock or don’t own a personal vehicle, you’ll know that the current Government has hiked the price of petrol to over ₹ 80 and diesel to ₹ 70. So, fans began to ask Akshay Kumar what he’d to say about that, since he was so critical about the previous Government’s actions. And he simply deleted that tweet (screenshot above). To make matters worse, Akshay Kumar remained mum on the damage the current Government has done.
Akshay Kumar’s actions angered netizens and they slammed him.

In my honest opinion, celebrities aren’t actually obligated to answer to anyone. However, if they’ve taken a stand earlier, it only makes sense to maintain it. Else, the social media waters are infested with screenshots from the past, you know.
