Woman Travels Wearing Bikini Top & Mini Skirt Allegedly In Delhi Metro, Starts Row On ‘Choice’

In relation to crimes against women, there is a lot of debate regarding a woman’s choice when it comes to clothing. A woman should be able to wear whatever she wants and at the same time feel safe in her clothing. A woman’s skirt or crop top is not an invitation for unwanted attention, let alone sexual harassment. However, a lot of people argue that there is a time and place to wear certain pieces of clothing.

A massive debate regarding appropriate clothing and women’s choice erupted on social media when a woman (unidentified) was allegedly spotted travelling via Delhi metro while being scantily clothed. She was wearing what seems like a bikini top and a mini skirt, exposing a majority of her skin.

A lot of people online argued that wearing such kind of clothing is not appropriate on public transport. If she were at a beach or an exotic location, sure. But inside a metro? People said a big ‘No’.

Some even highlighted that if it were a man dressed in nothing but his underwear in public, he would have been arrested for obscenity and public nudity.

Pictures of the woman were shared on Twitter by journalist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj who shared a very strong take regarding the incident. The visuals were apparently originally shared by a man in the form of a video. He was slammed for breaching the privacy of the woman by exposing her face. However, Bhardwaj shared screenshots cropping out the woman’s face entirely. Have a look:

There were many who slammed the woman for her choice of clothing in a public place and also raised questions as to how she got through the security check inside the Delhi metro station.

On the other hand, there were also some who supported the woman and argued that when men flip out their privates and urinate publicly, then nobody bats an eye and raises their voice against public obscenity.
