We are no strangers to the fact that television serials in India can sometimes bid logic goodbye. Why else would they show a doctor using Scotch Brite to give a shock to a patient, a woman worshipping a Monalisa painting with agarbatti and garlands, and a patient undergoing plastic surgery in the middle of the road?
And now, a Bengali TV serial has given us an important lesson on self-defence against goons carrying dangerous weaponry. In a TV serial named ‘Bangla Medium’, a woman is seen disarming a goon carrying a gun with her hawai chappal. I’m not even making this up.
As the goon threatens to harm a girl, the lead female character, Indira, opens her hawai chappal and throws it towards the goon’s hand, smacking away the gun which then falls on the ground.
This is exactly our reaction after watching this scene:
If ever in my life, I come across a goon who threatens me with a dangerous weapon, I’m going to open my shoe and do the exact same thing to save my life. Who says TV serials cannot inspire you?
