Air Vistara Bans Kunal Kamra After Internal Committee Of IndiGo Finds Him Guilty

About two months ago, comedian Kamra was banned by IndiGo airlines for his ‘unacceptable behaviour’ and allegedly heckling Arnab onboard an IndiGo flight (6E 5317) en route Mumbai to Lucknow. Soon after, several other airlines also suspended him until further notice.

However, Air Vistara didn’t ban the comedian at that time. But now, the airline has grounded him till the 27th April, following orders, reported HT. Kamra also shared about the same on his social media.

The decision came in after Kamra was found guilty by an internal committee of IndiGo (in which Vistara and other airlines had representatives) for his alleged misbehaviour, reported The Economic Times.

“Based on the order passed by an internal committee constituted by InterGlobe Aviation Ltd in compliance with the respective CAR and following due process, we have placed the passenger on our no-fly list until April 27, 2020,” a Vistara spokesperson said in a statement.

According to The Indian Express, the company’s internal committee decided that Kamra’s behaviour amounted to a Level 1 offence. This means that a passenger can be banned from flying for his ‘unruly’ behaviour for a period of three months.

Kamra had earlier moved to the Delhi High Court and issued a legal notice to IndiGo airlines demanding an ‘unconditional apology’. On hearing the plea from both the parties, the internal committee had reduced his suspension from six to three months.

In Kamra’s own words, he’s neither sorry, nor surprised, nor is he suffering.
