Kunal Kamra Sends Legal Notice To IndiGo Airlines, Demands ₹25 Lakh For “Mental Pain”

Soon after stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra’s video of allegedly ‘heckling’ television Journalist Arnab Goswami went viral on social media, 4 airlines including IndiGo, Spicejet, Air India, and GoAir have banned Kunal from flying for his ‘offensive behaviour’ until ‘further notice’.

Post his ban, Kunal released a statement saying that he didn’t endanger the safety of any passenger on-board but exercised his right to speech.

Kunal later released statements in which he claimed that just wants to have an “honest conversation” with Arnab Goswami regarding his journalism.

People online were also disappointed with the flight bans on Kunal and extended their support to him.

Even captain Rohit Mateti, the IndiGo pilot who flew Kunal Kamra and Arnab Goswami from Mumbai to Lucknow, said that, “Kamra’s behaviour, while unsavoury, was not qualifying of a level 1 unruly passenger,” reported ET.

“While Mr Kamra’s behaviour was unacceptable and verbally abusive, at no point did he not comply with crew instructions. While he did briefly display Level 1 traits, for disruptive behaviour, he was immediately compliant of crew instruction, was never issued a red warning card and hence cannot be classified as such,” Rohit added.

Amidst all this, Kunal has now issued a legal notice to IndiGo airlines demanding an ‘unconditional apology, removal of ban and compensation of Rs. 25 lakhs’, reported India Today.

IndiGo was the first airlines to put six months flying ban on Kunal.

The legal notice issued through Advocate Prashant Sivarajan, Partner at Lawmen & White reads:

Kunal has taken a legal step to revoke the flight bans on him. However, IndiGo is yet to release an official statement on this matter. While we are on the lookout for more updates for you in this matter, tell us what you think about the entire issue.
