Varun Dhawan Diagnosed With Vestibular Hypofunction, Reveals He’d ‘Shut Down’

A while back when Samantha Ruth Prabhu opened up about being diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called ‘Myositis’, my heart skipped a beat. Watching our favourite celebs going through such rare medical conditions is saddening.

We now have some depressing news for the fans of Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan. The entertainer recently revealed that he suffered from a condition called Vestibular Hypofunction.

Opening up about his condition, the star said, “Recently, I just shut down. I had this thing called Vestibular Hypofunction, (where) basically your balance goes off,” quoted The Indian Express.

He goes on to share, “But I just pushed myself so hard,” the actor said recalling that he came to know about it before he started shooting for the movie “Jug Jugg Jeeyo” and the shoot days felt like he was running for an election.

He had to push himself really hard to be able to perform, “We are just running in this race, nobody is asking why. I think there is a greater purpose (why) we are all here. I am trying to find mine, and hopefully, people will find theirs.”

A report by News18 suggests, “Vestibular Hypofunction (VH) is a condition wherein a person develops a partial or complete deficit of function in the peripheral and vestibular systems.”

Its symptoms reportedly include feeling dizziness or vertigo, nausea, and poor balance. Most people also struggle to walk when in crowded or dark places. Some have also complained of motion sickness when things move rapidly.

Thankfully, the condition can be cured with medications and lifestyle changes. We hope Varun is able to cure himself quickly.
