UP: Dulha & Baarat Return Home After Spending Entire Night Searching For ‘Bride’ & Her Home

“Dulhan kaha hai?” While we might have heard of brides running away on their wedding day due to various reasons, it’s unlikely that her entire family goes missing. In a bizarre case in Uttar Pradesh recently, a bridegroom and his baraat returned back home after they were unable to find the dulhan and her family.

According to TOI, a bridegroom along with his baraat travelled from Azamgarh to Mau for his wedding ceremony but found the bride’s address missing. They had no clue about the bride’s whereabouts as well. Eventually, the groom and his relatives scoured the streets searching the bride’s residence throughout the night.

However, they were unable to find her house, so they finally returned home fuming. The groom’s family then caught hold of the woman who had played mediator in the wedding. They held her hostage, stirring drama at Kotwali police station. The woman then claimed that she was not only misled but also duped by the bride and her family.

Senior sub-inspector of Kotwali police station, Shamsher Yadav was quoted saying, “The groom’s family levelled serious allegations at the woman, who brought the marriage proposal. We gave them an opportunity to solve the dispute. Late Saturday, the matter was resolved and the groom’s family agreed not to lodge an FIR against the woman.”

The family, who had come in contact with the woman from Chhatwara area, had agreed to arrange the marriage She then came with a proposal from the girl who supposedly live in Mau. However, while both families gave consent to the wedding, the guy’s family did not visit the girl’s residence. According to the groom’s mother, they had paid Rs 20,000 to the bride’s family for booking a band and lights for the marriage.
