Parents certainly try many techniques and hacks to bring up their children to be responsible adults. Earlier, we learnt of parents who had to bribe their kids to attend online classes. This time, a mom based in Florida revealed that she has her son do daily chores like making his bed, brushing his teeth and cleaning his bathroom.
“I have a seven-year-old. He has a daily task list that he must complete on a daily basis. Should he complete everything on his task list he gets a dollar per day. At the end of the month, he realises he has bills to pay. He pays those bills to me. He has rent, he has electricity for his room and he also has internet for his iPad,” she explained.
“He then understands that throughout the month he has two buckets. He has his fun money and his bill money,” the mother added. Times Now News reports that the rent is $5 (Rs 370) a month, electricity is $2 (Rs 148) and the WiFi for the iPad is $2 (Rs 148). Therefore, her son gets over $20 (Rs 1,482) as savings even after paying for everything.
The mother elaborates that if the boy defaults on rent one month, he can pay the debt off by next month or having a conversation with mom.
“I don’t do anything with his money except for put it right back in his savings account. It has taught him the value of a dollar and responsibility. I am so pleased with the results, hopefully it’s something that can help you out as well,” she suggested.
