Twitter Erupts In Joy As Sunil Chhetri And Team Beat Kenya To Lift The Intercontinental Cup

A jampacked Mumbai Football Arena witnessed a historic moment in Indian football as skipper Sunil Chhetri and team thrashed Kenya 2-0, to lift the Intercontinental Cup. The 33-year-old Chhetri, who seems to age like wine, led by example to score a brace in the summit clash. The prolific striker found the net in the 8th and the 29th minute of the match to end his fairytale display in the tournament in style.

With his double, Sunil Chhetri has now equalled Argentine wonderboy Lionel Messi’s tally of 64 international goals and sits as the joint second-highest active international scorers in the world.

Sunil is second to Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal who has a whopping 81 goals to his name.

India’s victory led to wild celebrations from the home crowd along with the players, and the scene was one to remember for a lifetime. The players marched towards the ecstatic fans to start the trademark ‘viking clap’ celebration and got an equally overwhelming response from them.
