Massive protests are taking place across the country against the Citizenship Amendment Act. While many have taken to the streets, a significant number of people are protesting against the act on social media calling it discriminatory. One of such people protesting online is Sourav Ganguly’s daughter, Sana Ganguly.

According to a report by News18, Sana took to her Instagram account to post an excerpt from Khushwant Singh’s book ‘The End Of India’. This is what it read:
“Every fascist regime needs communities and groups it can demonize in order to thrive. It starts with one group or two. But it never ends there. A movement built on hate can only sustain itself by continually creating fear and strife. Those of us today who feel secure because we are not Muslims or Christians are living in a fool’s paradise.
The Sangh is already targeting the Leftist historians and “Westernized” youth. Tomorrow it will turn its hate on women who wear skirts, people who eat meat, drink liquor, watch foreign films, don’t go on annual pilgrimages to temples, use toothpaste instead of danth manjan, prefer allopathic doctors to vaids, kiss or shake hands in greeting instead of shouting ‘Jai Shri Ram’. No one is safe. We must realize this if we hope to keep India alive.”
People on the internet considered this to be her political stance amidst the protests. Some even went on to share a screenshot of her post and soon it got viral.
BCCI President @SGanguly99's daughter Sana Ganguly just won my heart by this post. Incredible maturity from an 18 year old. pic.twitter.com/wQN5eyfY6G

However, Sourav Ganguly later took to Twitter to ask people to keep Sana out of politics as she is “too young” to understand it and that her post is “not true”, reports The Hindu.
Please keep Sana out of all this issues .. this post is not true .. she is too young a girl to know about anything in politics
— Sourav Ganguly (@SGanguly99) December 18, 2019
People on Twitter started calling him out for dismissing his daughter’s valid political opinion. Some also reminded him that Sana is 18-years old and she deserves to get her point across.
She is 18 and hence an adult enough to vote in election and to have her opinion. Let her be what she wants to be. She will learn to pick herself up even if she falls.

Dear Dada, she spoke the truth which many legends are yet to speak up. If saying the right thing does not require to "know anything in politics", then it's better than "knowing everything in politics" & keep quite. You as a father should be proud of this act of her! #SanaGanguly https://t.co/XklxdAY9tz

She is 18+ dada
She is educated
She can take her own decisions.
She is well read.
Please allow her the freedom you allowed to your players as a captain..
Will always be your biggest fan as a cricketer and captain..
Love you..— Saurabh.. (@SaurabhShri05) December 18, 2019
She has more courage than you

Really admire the wisdom n understanding your daughter got at this age. I would have simply opened a champagne today if it were my daughter. Such clear concept. This is the way Ganguly not the other way round. I just see something so strong in her that u perhaps lack …Spine .

You should be proud of your girl for standing up when it matters.

Our kids are smarter than us and more socially aware and responsible than us; be it about global warming or politics. They see things that we fail to notice or take for granted.#SanaGanguly just called a spade a spade. Sourav Ganguly should be proud of her.

Sir, you should be proud of her for saying the right thing. "Young girls" have as much a right to be political as old people.
— Shehla Rashid (@Shehla_Rashid) December 18, 2019
She is 18 years old and has access to social media and her account is verified.
She read Khushwant Singh's novels and understand meaning of each word written in the novel
But according to Sourav Ganguly, she is too young to know about anything in politics#SanaGanguly@SGanguly99 pic.twitter.com/1ijxChV0kS— Iron Man 🇮🇳 🚩 (@Iam_AJain) December 18, 2019
You used to be better than this dada….

#SanaGanguly speaks her mind fearlessly. She speaks the truth. Usko koi set nahi kar sakta BCCI chief banakar.
This battle to save our country & society is also a battle between the old & young. I know so many youngsters fighting their parents & women fighting men in the family. https://t.co/gfPAbvwFqW

While some may think that Ganguly is just being a protective father and shielding Sana from online trolls, calling her post as untrue and underestimating her political understanding isn’t called for.
