Smriti Irani Said GST Created Job Boom For CAs. And Her Logic Created A LOL Boom For Trolls!

Being a celebrity and succumbing to the foot-in-mouth disease go hand-in-hand. Only difference is, before, it was easier to get away with it. But now, with social media being faster than The Flash and quite savage in their trolling, famous people ought to look before they leap! Unfortunately for Smriti Irani and her recent GST comment, this warning came too late!

This morning, as BJP was on a roll in the election results, Union Cabinet Minister Smriti Irani decided to blow the party’s trumpet yet again. She shared a news article that proclaimed that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) had created a job boom for Chartered Accountants.

Okay, first of all, WTH is ‘jobs’ boom?

Second, the fact, taken in its bare technicality, is true, considering GST’s introduction was met with lots of confusion about the various policies. This, in turn, led to CAs becoming the thought leaders in spreading awareness and helping laymen understand what it was all about.
