After her terrific debut in the drama-thriller film ‘Luck’ in 2009, actress Shruti Haasan has been juggling life between India and the UK while making it big in Tollywood. However, she was recently seen in a chat show hosted by actor Lakshmi Manchu where she made some shocking revelations. Shruti let the cat out of her kitty and opened up about her breakup with Michael Corsale, her career and her struggle with alcohol addiction.
She went on record and shared she was once addicted to alcohol and how it affected her career. Shruti however ‘let go of the habit last year and has not touched alcohol again.’
“Yeah, I was a big-time whiskey lover. I have taken a break and decided to stop everything. This is a new change for me.”
Shruti further added, “Actually, I was unwell and I did not tell anybody. I thought it is personal and I did not share my illness with outsiders or friends. I underwent a medical condition and was trying to heal myself.”
That is when Shruti decided to adopt a healthy lifestyle. “A healthy body is the first step. You need a healthy body and a healthy mind to deal with the outside world. If you aren’t healthy inside, you can’t challenge the world.”
Speaking about her break from Bollywood, she says, “I don’t care what other people have to say. I took one-year’s break because I’ve been doing the same and similar roles. In fact, I have only one type of connectivity with my audience. But I strongly feel if I have a healthy mind and a healthy body, I can deal with everything going on in the outside world,” she added.
When questioned about her relationship with Michael Corsale, she reportedly said, “I was the cool type. I was very innocent and everyone would boss around me. I am a very emotional person that’s why they could take over.” However, she added that “it was a very good experience.”
The actress further added that ‘there is no particular formula to fall in love.’ “Even now there is no formula. Good people are good at good times and the same people are bad at times. But I have no regrets. It was overall a good experience for me. I have learnt a lot and it was a learning experience. But I always look for that one great love and I will be happy to announce that this is the one I have been waiting for.”
Shruti who also likes to sing has been appreciated for essaying roles in B-town movies like Ramaiya Vastavaiya, D-Day, Rocky Handsome, Gabbar Is Back, Yevadu, Behen Hogi Teri among others.
