Shilpa Shetty Moves HC Against ‘Defamatory Content’, Seeks ₹25Crores For Reputation Damage

Ever since Raj Kundra’s arrest in a pornography production case, the lives of Shilpa Shetty and her family members have been under intense public scrutiny. Shetty made headlines while the police investigated Kundra’s case and interrogated Shilpa.

The actress has now moved Bombay High Court seeking an injunction against defamatory media reports against her. Shilpa cited various articles showcasing allegedly false and defamatory content that damaged her reputation.

TOI reports that one of her demands is an ‘unconditional apology’ from some media houses. Additionally, she wants the defamatory content deleted along with being compensated for Rs 25 crores. Her application reveals that the mere hint of her involvement in her husband’s alleged crime (in the absence of specific details) has damaged her character and reputation.

Shilpa alleged that she’s being presented as a criminal and wife who abandoned her husband in the face of a criminal investigation.

Her application states that Shetty believes the defamatory articles about her have earned her disrepute. Shilpa’s application says that her reputation is part of her right to life under Article 21 of the constitution of India. She further states that the media reportage has maligned the image of her family, minor kids and elderly parents to hatred, ridicule and contempt.

They have lowered her standing in the eyes of audiences, brand endorsement companies, and business associates, as people now believe the defamatory articles. This has allegedly cost her business and professional loss, suggest reports.

What do you think of her allegations?
