Before You Feel Bad For Salman Khan, Read His Bodyguard Ravindra Patil’s Story

Salman Khan has been convicted for 2002 Hit and Run case with five years sentence to jail yesterday. Post verdict, twitter and other social networking sites were flooded with lot of tweets and posts in support of Salman Khan, especially by Bollywood celebrities manifesting how sad they feel for him.

Amongst all this chaos, a story got lost. Story of Ravindra Patil, Salman’s police body guard who was with him when the accident took place.

Allegedly, Patil asked Salman to not drink as he had to drive that night and later tried convincing him not to drive but Salman didn’t pay any heed. The first information report in the case was filed by Patil.

In 2006, Ravindra Patil went mysteriously missing. Due to his failure of not appearing for five consecutive court dates, he was later arrested by Crime Branch in Mahabaleshwar. He got out of jail only to figure out that he was disowned by his family and fired from his job. In 2007, he lost the battle of life to Tuberculosis and died alone in Sewri Municipal Hospital.

 
According to a post, ‘Ravindra Patil: The Death of a Messenger’ which was later deleted, Patil was put under a lot of pressure to change his statement telling to portray the accident as ‘human error’ and not drunk driving.
