Rhea Kapoor’s Post Calls Out “Random Strangers” Advising Her To Celebrate Karwa Chauth

As we approach winter, one of the many Indian festivals particularly celebrated by married couples is the Karwa Chauth. It essentially involves the wife fasting from dawn to moonrise and praying for the longevity of her spouse’s life.

Sonam Kapoor’s sister and film producer Rhea Kapoor who married her long-time boyfriend Karan Boolani recently revealed that she’s been inundated with requests regarding this festival.

She took to social media to announce that she and Karan don’t believe in Karwa Chauth and won’t be celebrating the festival. Her post was aimed at brands reaching out to her for Karwa Chauth collabs as well as “random strangers”. Take a look-

“Respectfully please don’t reach out to me for karva chauth gifting or collabs. It’s not something Karan or I believe in. We respect other couples who partake and can even enjoy the festivities while they do. It’s just not for me. Or us. So the last thing I want to do is promote something I don’t believe in and don’t really agree with the spirit it comes from,” she said.

Furthermore, she penned a response for those who asked her to keep Karwa Chauth fast. “For now I feel like if we take care of ourselves and each other we should be good. I only write this because it seems random strangers feel the need to aggressively convince me that I’m being ‘silly’, ‘have to do it’, ‘it’s my first’. No, thank you. let’s move on? If you read this thank you for giving a sh*t.”
