‘Really Pains Me’ Rani Mukerji Opens Up About Trying For 2nd Baby For 7 Years After Adira

On December 9, 2015, Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra welcomed their first child Adira into the world. But what a lot of people didn’t know was that in 2020, Rani Mukerji suffered a miscarriage 5 months into her pregnancy. The couple were trying for another baby.

In an interview, Rani Mukerji opened up about wanting to give Adira a sibling and how it breaks her heart that she cannot get pregnant again. The actor is 46 years old now – an age where it is difficult to have a healthy pregnancy for many women. She revealed that for 7 years, she tried to get pregnant after Adira was born.

“I tried for my second baby for seven years. My daughter is 8 years old now. Immediately after her, I tried for my second baby. I kept trying. I finally got pregnant, and then I lost the baby. Obviously, it was a testing time for me,” Hindustan Times quoted her saying.

Calling Adira her “miracle child”, Rani said that she is very grateful for her because she has seen couples who’ve been trying for a baby but are failing in the process, rendering them childless.

“It’s not an age where I can have another baby. And it is traumatic for me that I can’t give a sibling to my daughter. That really pains me. But then I think that we really have to be always grateful for what we have and what we don’t. For me, Adira is my miracle child. And I’m really happy that I have her because I look at parents who are struggling to have even that one baby. So I feel I have to be grateful for what I have. It’s a saying, but to actually work on it and believe that you’ve to be grateful for what you have, it takes a lot of courage. To just be content with what you have. So I’m working on it. I’m telling myself that yes, Adira is enough.”

It’s difficult to imagine the kind of personal issues celebrities are going through behind the glitz and glamour.
