Raipur Bride & Groom Suffer Massive Fall As Crane’s Rope Snaps During Sangeet Entry

Earlier, weddings used to be simple. Only families and a couple of friends were involved, the menu included a delicious 3-course meal, a local hall or a park was booked for the event and people went on with the ceremony in a not-so-very-monumental way. Even grand weddings weren’t as ‘grand’ as it is today.

Today, there are destination weddings, grand entries, a gazillion pre-wedding and post-wedding ceremonies, and whatnot. As the ‘big fat Indian wedding’ has become all the rage now, a simple wedding is what surprises us!

Speaking of grand, in a wedding that took place in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, the bride and the groom made a striking entry on their sangeet by riding on a golden metal globe supported by a huge crane. Shockingly, as fireworks oozed out from the sides, the globe somehow dismantled and the couple fell down from a worrisome height.

According to The Indian Express, as the metal globe was being lowered, the rope supporting the platform allegedly snapped, causing the bride and groom to come crashing down. As the two tumbled to the ground from a height of about 12 feet, reportedly, chaos and commotion took over as the family members rushed to their help.

A video of the incident has gone viral online:

Luckily, the couple wasn’t seriously injured and just got away with a few minor scratches. The families of the bride and groom have decided not to file a police complaint against the event planner, who reported that after a chaotic 15-minutes, the function was resumed.

“We will take care that such mistakes do not happen in future,” a spokesperson of the event management company said.

Just a question, are such grand yet dangerous entries really important considering how unsafe they can be?
