Radhika Apte Takes A Dig At Actors Who Undergo Plastic Surgery But Preach Body Positivity

From Shruti Hassan to Koena Mitra, several leading ladies of the film industry have undergone not one but numerous plastic surgeries to meet a certain beauty standard. Getting nose jobs, lip jobs and cheek fillers is as normal for celebrities as it is breathing for us.

But again, the same celebrities go on to preach body positivity. Don’t you think that is hypocrisy at its peak? Well, ‘Andhadhun’ actor Radhika Apte thinks so.

She spoke about her struggles to come to terms with people who are unable to digest ageing, especially in an industry where people go through surgeries to look younger. Hindustan Times quoted her saying:

“What I’m really struggling with is (people unable) to combat age, especially in the industry with people going through surgeries. I know so many of my colleagues who have gone through so many surgeries to change their faces and bodies.”

Radhika goes on to add that not many people raise a voice against it. In fact, those who’ve come under the knife are often the ones who preach body positivity.

“I just can’t cope with it. And I don’t see a lot of people standing up for it or standing against it. In fact, (there are) people (from the industry) who talk about body positivity themselves and they have gone through so many things (done). I am a bit tired of that and I find it very, very challenging (to accept).”

There is a lot of truth in what she said. Don’t you agree?
