Swedish National Finds Her Long Lost Sister In Pune’s Red Light Area After 32 Years!

How often have we come across scripts in movies that narrate the story of siblings getting separated from each other only to reunite in the climax? Numerous times, isn’t it? However, an incredible tale of two sisters, who reunited after 32 years of separation, is making us believe that miracles do happen in reality.

The story roots back to 32 years ago, when Neha Holmgren, (now a Swedish national) was separated from her sister. She was a mere 14 months old when she was adopted by a Swedish family from Shreevatsa — an institute that takes care of children.

God clearly had other plans for her.

10 years ago, Neha, who had never been to India post her adoption, had attended a child adoption conference in Sweden. And that is exactly where she got some information about her biological, Indian family. She was also shown some documents which carried information about her family and the place she was adopted from. The details of the same were shared with Neha’s husband.

Interestingly enough, Neha’s husband came across a woman named Purnima Gosavi last November. Gosavi was a native of Pune but now is a resident of Canada and surprisingly turned out to be a common link between them. And this marked the beginning of Neha’s hunt for her sister.

Gosavi had mentioned on a child adoption forum that she was a social worker with Shreevatsa in 1986 — the year when Neha was lodged there. This piece of information caught the attention of Neha’s husband who was quick to get in touch with Seema Waghmode, who runs a non-governmental organization Kayakalpa in Pune, through Gosavi.

According to Pune Mirror, Gosavi explained that she felt a connection with Neha and wanted to do her best in a bid to help her.

“The coincidence was so unique that I felt like giving my best to help Neha. Without even meeting, I felt there was a connection between us.”

Waghmode, through her connections, spread the word in a bid to alert as many people as possible in the network. She also connected them with a lady named Mary D’Souza, who was a friend of Neha’s mother. But after a lot of research and verifying the minutest details, Neha found out that her mother had passed away. Yet, there was one discovery that delighted her. After more than three decades, Neha realized she had a biological sister who was clueless about Neha’s desperate search!

“I asked for all the documents that she had in her possession and shared them with Waghmode. After a lot of groundwork, we found her younger sister, who is a sex worker.”

She explained how she could not control her emotions after knowing that her elder sister was alive and looking for her for a decade.

“My mother always told that me my elder sister had passed away. That was the only memory and knowledge I was carrying all my life.”

Neha, who is a nurse by profession, flew down to India after her sister was found. The two met for a nice 20 minutes and are now planning to live the rest of their lives together. Speaking about the same, Neha said,

“We will go ahead and conduct DNA tests just to be medically correct and then see how we could plan our lives together.”

Wow. These type of stories make us believe in fairytales. We wish Neha and her sister a wonderful future ahead.
