Recently, India celebrated Lord Ganesha’s birthday very pompously. They played some iconic songs, banged on that dhol all day long and elevated the country’s mood for 10 days. However, during Ganesh Chaturthi, people might’ve faced one serious problem. And that’s obtaining the traditional food of the festival, the modak. That’s why a Pune man has come up with an unique solution for it by combining culture and technology.
According to NDTV, Sanjiv Kulkarni has built a special ATM that gives out modaks. Kulkarni said,
“It is ATM- Any Time Modak. You will get a modak through this ATM by inserting a special card. It was an attempt to move forward with technology and culture together.”
So, if you happen to be in Pune’s Sahakar Nagar in Maharashtra, you will come across an ATM that doesn’t give out money. Instead, on inserting a special card, you’ll get a cutely packed sweet made of rice/flour and stuffed with jaggery, coconuts and dry fruits. Yes, it’s the modak.
Check out the ‘All Time Modak’ for yourself:

Making any modern updates to any religion is like walking a tight-rope. However, it looks like Kulkarni has touched the right nerve with his ATM and created a great amalgamation of modernism and tradition. As Lord Ganesha is considered the God of beginnings, we hope that his modak churning machine gives way to many more quirky inventions.
