2017 is just there for a couple more weeks and people are already looking forward to new year, new beginnings. While there would definitely BE new things to see in 2018, let me tell you about something that is not likely to go away quite soon – Trolling.
Let’s face it, the keyboard-ninjas that sit behind the screens, are constantly on the lookout for targets they can spew their hatred upon. The only way they can be tackled are by befitting replies that either shut ’em up or make them realise that what they’re indulging is wrong on so many levels.
Showing us the way and how that is done are a few ladies, who didn’t just sit and tolerate hate-bombs lunging at them, but took matters in their hands and had the most fitting replies to shamers and online trolls.
1. Priyanka Chopra
From red-carpets to her chat show appearances, Priyanka really rocked 2017. But that’s not it! PeeCee, who’s really active on social media, took on trolls in the classiest way.
Case in point: Her meeting with PM Modi in Berlin in May. People called her unsankari for flaunting her legs in front of our Prime Minister.
Instead of engaging in the dirty word games, PC posted a picture, flaunting her LEGS and we totally dig the subtlety, there.
But she also said in an interview,
“I DON’T KNOW WHY YOU GUYS GIVE TROLLING SO MUCH IMPORTANCE BUT FOR ME TROLLING IS NOT NEWS, IT NEVER HAS BEEN. TROLLING IS JUST SOMEONE’S OPINION AND WHO CARES ABOUT THAT?”
2. Taapsee Pannu
This whole year Taapsee has given it back to trolls, left, right and centre. But she did it in a way we, like Arjun Kapoor, too were lauding for her karara jawabs.
Someone shamed Taapse for wearing this gorg. bikini.
But, her sassy-ass reply just took the cake away.
Gndi??? I knew I should've washed that sand off me. Next time I will take care. I 'aaplog' for that 🤓 https://t.co/291ePztnlP

3. Swara Bhasker
The quirky actress’ social handles took on a lot of hate this year, but Swara warded it off one reply at a time. Not only that she even penned a powerful letter that personified sexism and was quite an eye-opener.
But, if we had to pick one instance where Swara nailed it with her reply, then it has to be to a female journalist who tried calling Zaira Wasim’s molestation case a cheap publicity stunt in a series of tweets.
Swara hit back, saying:
Last line being a fantastic example of how this #MolestationDefender @JagratiShukla29 is trying to delegitimise a young girl- yes CHILD’s trauma by suggesting she is ‘anti national’ Congratulations Jagrati.. Didn’t think u could sink any lower but u showed us!! 👏🏾👏🏾👎🏾👎🏾 https://t.co/8ek2MdKZaU

4. Mithali Raj
When not hitting the ball out of the stadium, Mithali also hits ’em word balls off the stadium with her epic replies. Be it for her dressing or slamming journos for asking sexist questions, Mithali has a positive clapback, up her sleeves.
Like when she gave it to the man complaining about her sweaty armpits.
I m where I m because I sweated it out on d field! I see no reason 2 b ashamed f it, when I'm on d ground inaugerating a cricket academy. https://t.co/lC5BOMf7o2

5. Esha Gupta
It has been quite a year for Esha, because she was a hot topic discussed widely on social media. Mainly because, of her sexy lingerie shoot. It may have left a whole bunch of people unsettled but there were people who slut-shamed and moral-policed the hell outta her.
Her reply to that was posting more pictures.
But she did open up and said,
6. Celina Jaitley
When it comes to trolling, trolls spare nobody and they didn’t even spare preggers Celina Jaitley for her pregnancy shoot. They slut-shamed the mom-to-be, and called it inappropriate.
But Celina, showed them their rightful place in a post that was extremely powerful.
We lauded for the mom’s words, who lost one of the twins born to her shortly after penning this post. 🙁
7. Aahana Kumra
The Lipstick Under My Burkha star, Aahana Kumra, posted a picture online while donning a beautiful bikini during her Australian vacay.
She was body-shamed, called fat, and showered with some lewd comments too.
But she had a reply that covered all shapes.
8. Disha Patani
The MS Dhoni gal, who floors all with her perfect moves and bold fashionable choices, has seen a great share of shaming too.
Like, this one, where she was slut-shamed for showing boobs…
…Disha’s reply was so on point and called out Indian hypocrisy, rightly so.
9. Anerji Vajani
Aneri Vajani, the Beyhadh girl, was shamed for being too skinny. Yes, that’s a thing too.
She posted a picture in a lingerie and people body-shamed her.
But, looks like, she had the last laugh.

10. Vidya Balan
Hamari Sulu aka Vidya Balan has always been real comfortable in her own skin and we love that about her so much.
During an event a reporter asked her when she was thinking of losing weight.
Instead, Bidya with a ‘v’ shared her thought and it was simply brill.
11. Twinkle Khanna
You know how Mrs. Funnybones is, right? Undaunted and a lady who has her way with words. Well, time and again, Twinkle has given us instances where one has to clap hard for her.
Like, when a she took a dig at Karvachauth and fans thrashed her.
She hit back saying in a blog for TOI,
“WHY DO YOU WRITE OPEN LETTERS, TWEET AND TROLL IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE BRITS?
WHY NOT GO TRADITIONAL THERE AS WELL, USE ONLY OUR ANCIENT LANGUAGES AND SPARE US YOUR VENOM-FILLED AND GRAMMATICALLY INCORRECT ENGLISH?”
12. Masaba Gupta
The designer who’s making us go cray with her latest designs has been quite a favourite troll-target. But that doesn’t hinder her success or way how she leads her life.
People were left infuriated when someone called her a bastard for supporting cracker ban.
@MasabaG please go back to your Fatherlund so that you can avoid Deepawali. And ya stop using Fukng AC to save environment. Thanks in advance
— Krunal Bhatt (@bhattkrunal) October 9, 2017
But, the fierce woman’s reply shut the troll up so bad that others were left applauding her.

13. Sonam Kapoor
When not making all bow down to her fashion choices, Sonam Kapoor loves the social life. Which also translates to tackling trolls.
Sonam have been called a lot of names like, Bimbo, Nachnewali and more. But Sonam it back to each and everyone in an open letter to Hindustan Times.
But, sadly, she got trolled for misquoting the National Anthem wrong in it.
14. Kareena Kapoor Khan
By now, you must know that Kareena Kapoor Khan doesn’t mince her words. She’s outspoken and that’s one of the best qualities about her.
When baby Taimur was born, controversies and massive trolling magnet-ed towards them. But that didn’t bother Bebo and family. In an interview she said,
Woah!
15. Ariel Winter
The Modern Family star who made sensational revelations about being sexualised by her mom at the tender age of 12, Ariel Winter had a year full of trolling.
From calling her a wh**e and saying mean things about her, trolls spewed a lot of hate on her.
But the 19-year-old wrote a rant for them.
Rant!! pic.twitter.com/YY8jIP7iaQ
— Ariel Winter (@arielwinter1) September 19, 2017
Now, that’s HOW IT IS DONE! Right?
The ladies simply rocked it with their replies to trolls and we’re loving them more each slam at a time.
