PM Modi To Address The Nation Tonight At 8 PM As India’s Coronavirus Cases Rise To 491

The tension surrounding the coronavirus is increasing in India by the day as the number of cases rises to 491, as of now, according to a report by The Indian Express. There have been 9 deaths so far and medical authorities are are “preparing for Stage 3” and “intensification of containment to the best possible extent”.

North-East India has recorded its first COVID-19 positive case today. A resident of Imphal West district who recently came back from England tested positive for the coronavirus.

With the alarming rise in cases all over the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that he will be addressing the nation, again, at 8 PM tonight, i.e. March 24, reports The Indian Express. He will be talking about the “vital aspects relating to the menace of COVID-19”.

This is PM Modi’s second address to the nation within the last 7 days, the previous one being the call for the 14-hour ‘Janata Curfew‘.

Several states across the country have imposed a lockdown upon its citizens, urging them to remain indoors as a precaution against the virus. All domestic flights have been shut down as well.

While the government is doing whatever they can to curb the spread of the virus, it is important for us all to take the lockdown seriously and practice social-distancing and self-quarantine. Stay safe, everyone!
