‘Photograph’ Trailer Features An Unlikely Romance Between Nawazuddin Siddiqui & Sanya Malhotra

After decades of churning out formulaic movies, Bollywood has begun to greenlight stories that nobody has heard of. And at the forefront of it is Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who gave us ‘Manto’ and ‘Sacred Games’ in 2018 and has already started his 2019 with ‘Thackeray’. Now, he has been cast alongside Sanya Malhotra, who has given us ‘Badhaai Ho’ and ‘Pataakha’, in Ritesh Batra’s ‘Photograph’.

‘Photograph’ is written and directed by Ritesh Batra. It tells the story of a struggling photographer named Rafi, who meets a chartered accountancy student named Miloni in front of the Gateway of India.

The trailer starts off with Nawazuddin’s Rafi persuading Sanya’s Miloni to let him take a photograph of her. And after she obliges, they go on their separate paths. However, they’re eventually brought together after Rafi’s grandmother pressurises him to get married. And although Rafi and Miloni put up an act to convince the ailing grandmother to take her meds again, it leads to an unlikely romance between them.

Ritesh Batra has presented us with ‘The Lunchbox’, where he created a romantic story that none of us could have ever imagined. So, it’ll be interesting to see him take on yet another off-beat love story in ‘Photograph’, that will also explore various themes that are relevant to the current times.
