So, Sunday didn’t exactly go as we planned. Yes, (as much as I hate to say it) the Indian cricket team lost the ICC Champion’s trophy to Pakistan and what followed by was a tweetstorm of varied reactions, at varied points of time. But hey, you win some, you lose some, right?
While you and I, with our wounded spirits, may think on similar lines, there is one gentleman across the border who probably needs a quick re-cap of what sport exactly is. Honestly, we are the last ones to bring you dirt (since it is so readily available) but you can hardly turn away from something so vile without reporting it!
Before that, remember the Pak anchor, Aamir Liaquat, an anchor with Pakistan’s Bol News, who ran a story about Om Puri’s ghost roaming around for revenge? Well, he is at it again and this time ‘WTF’ will fall short!
The anchor, after Pakistan won by 180 runs, ran a special segment called ‘Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga‘ and went on a rampage against the Indian team in ways inexplicable.
“Indian mothers will tell stories of this day to their kids, warning them to beware of going to the field against Pakistan, the team that comes and defeats by 180 runs.”
Not just that, the hysteria and emotions ran wild when Aamir Liaquat not just trashed but targeted Indian players starting with Virat Kohli. He said,
He also played around with the analogy of ‘baap-beta‘ ridiculing Indian jest and spirit that amounted because the match was on Father’s day.
In fact, he went he also went on a limb to take multiple digs at Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor, after his comments before the clash.
“We don’t use Kapoor in our names, we eat Kapoors.”
There’s him challenging Arnab Goswami too, just FYI.
It didn’t end there, rather the tirade took an ugly turn when Aamir Liaquat used sensitive, political issues as props to demean the national interest of India.
