Old Bus In Bangalore Turned Into Solar-Powered Public Toilet For Women

It has been proved time and again that people of Karnataka know how to make the most out of any opportunity they get. Take for example the teacher who used virtual and augmented reality to turn regular online classes into a fun learning session, or the government turning old buses into creches for the children of construction labourers in Bangalore!

And now, in a new and welcome development, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation has turned an old bus into a toilet for women! According to a report by News18, a bus which could have ended up at a junkyard has been used for good by the authorities who have turned it into a ‘Sthree toilet’.

The bus has 5 toilets in total – 3 of which are Indian toilets and the other 2 in western style. It is also equipped with a sanitary napkin vending machine and an incinerator. In addition to these, the bus also has solar sensor lights, a washbasin, and a baby feeding and diaper changing area.

What’s even more amazing is that this bus will make use of self-generated power through solar energy.

This bus is currently located in Majestic Bus Stand in Bangalore, which is visited by thousands of people from across Karnataka and from other states every day, reports The New Indian Express.

Kudos to the Karnataka Government for this initiative! We hope more such buses are converted into toilets for women across the state.
