After Fight With A Waiter, This Mumbai Woman Faked A Bomb Threat As Revenge

A holiday in Goa translates to serenity and some fun in the sun for so many of us. Yet, when 23-year-old Rangoli headed there on vacation, she managed to brew up a storm of trouble.

It all began when Rangoli Patel was relishing a meal at a restaurant with her friend. Having had a little too much to drink, her friend began to quarrel with her, reported The Herald, Goa. That was when a waiter at the restaurant intervened. Although he played the pacifist, the duo continued to fight and were eventually asked to leave the establishment.

However, rather than gracefully moving on, she went on to make a hoax call to the cops claiming there was a bomb in the restaurant. That was when the restaurant was hastily evacuated causing chaos and panic.

Police inspector Jivba Dalvi on-site at Calangute beach shed light on the incident.

“The quick reaction team of the Anti-Terrorist Squad was also called to the spot. Their search of the premises revealed that the call was a hoax,” he shared.

The cops soon arrested 23-year-old MBA student for making the fake threat on Tuesday. Patel is a resident of Malad West in Mumbai and was identified after her subscriber information was investigated. This was after the cops canvassed the area near the hotel following the bomb scare in the restaurant that rattled the public as well as the management.

“The accused has disclosed that she had made a hoax call to make the restaurant management suffer losses,” Dalvi said.

Patel is now facing charges having been booked under sections 182 (false information), 505(1)(b) (incite to commit offence) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Considering the recent bombing, it would be foolhardy to brew trouble and speak of a grave bomb threat in jest. We all remember the story of ‘the boy who cried wolf’, don’t we?
